Earning Friendship

As the game advances and characters interact, friendship points are earned between them. Friendship points are most often gained during combat, but they can also be earned – and lost – through actions taken outside of combat during roleplay encounters.

When in combat, friendship points are awarded if at least 2 people contributed to taking down an enemy. Everyone that contributes to a kill will gain a friendship point with everyone else involved. So if Kade, Lyra and Lisa all attack and defeat the same foe, Kade/Lyra would gain 1 friendship point between them, Kade/Lisa would also, and so would Lyra/Lisa. Friendship points are also gained from applying healing and buff spells. There is a maximum limit of 5 Friendship points that can be drawn from any one source, so in the event of more than that occurring, the friendships with the lowest values take precedence.

Friendship States and Bonuses

There are 5 states of friendship: Ally, Partner, Friend, Trusted and Soulmate. Ally is the lowest, and confers no bonuses. When you earn 15 friendship points with another character, you become partners. At 30 points, you are friends, and the buffs increase. 45 points means you are both trusted.

Upon reaching 60 points, the two players involved can opt to roll a d100 between them. You have a 50% chance of becoming Soulmates. This chance is modified up or down depending on how well the characters are getting on in the story. If one of you chooses not to roll, the Soulmate status counts as being rejected, the friendship points are lost, and you remain Trusted. You can only have one Soulmate. If you are ever in a position to roll a second, you must choose whether to discard Soulmate status with your current soulmate before you make the d100 roll for the new potential Soulmate, or opt to keep your current soulmate, and reject the new one back to trusted. Those who are rejected, whether potential or actual Soulmates, can never advance beyond Trusted.

Below is a chart explaining how each type of friendship bonus scales with each friendship level.

To gain access to friendship bonuses, you must do one of two things:

1.   Stand adjacent to the ally with the bonus you want.

2.   Trigger a successful mark on an enemy that your ally has also triggered a mark on. Only the first two successful marks can grant friendship bonuses.

Each class will provide one or two of the above bonuses, and generally speaking, those that provide more than one will provide the lower of the two given values. High and Low are denoted with (H) and (L) respectively. Here is a list of all of the classes, together with the bonuses that each one confers. Classes used in the current game will be in Gold, and include the character’s name.
