Legacies of Veridocia: The Dark Dominion
(World Synopsis) |
On the lush
continent of Veridocia, a young Prince Gulwin is entrusted with command of the armies of Signus, and the protection of the ancient seals.
Far to the north, a
smaller, more barren island lies: ravaged by regular storms, and much cooler
climes. The rough seas have left this place largely cut off from the outside
world. Trade is scarce, harvests are poor, and times are hard for the
beleaguered, stranded inhabitants of this island aptly named Carcerus; for it is in many ways a prison. And their
jailer, Marath, a power-mad Warlord, is a cruel,
heartless recluse that resides in a ruined fort that sits atop a narrow peak.
Once conjoined to the island, the weather-beaten earth has partially fallen
into the briney depths, separating his domain from
the land, and making his enclave nigh unassailable.
He terrorises the
populace from within his icy tower through the unyielding might of his army.
The people are forced to work and toil, only for the forces he commands to take
what is produced. And failure to provide, or any show of non-compliance is met
with swift - and painful - consequence.
But even as The
Warlord's plans develop beyond simple resources, a glimmer of hope emerges.
Rumours that some of Marath's warriors are being
waylaid begin to spread. A symbol can often be seen carved into stone or wood
where the deeds are said to have occurred, and the sight of it inspires
optimism and courage in those who see it; a calling card signalling that change
is on the horizon.
The Rebellion is
about to begin.
